Of course I’ve already been a toddler before. Clearly. I’ve had my fair share of misbehaving and all the other typical toddler behaviors.
But there are many things I probably took for granted just like every other toddler.
So here are 6 toddler behaviors I’d like to try for a day.
The Toddler Behaviors I Would Take Advantage Of:
1. Sleeping Whenever (or Just Napping!)
Probably the toddler behavior most taken for granted by toddlers. I used to fight Little A every day. I’d try to get her to take a nap for hours. I finally gave up. Some days she will wake up around 7am or 8am and I can get her to take a small one but most days it’s a lost cause and I don’t even bother. However, just for a day, I wish I could sleep whenever I wanted and no one would interrupt me. If I were a toddler for the day I would sleep… a lot!
2. Back Wash
This may just be me, but when I wash my daughter’s back at night in the tub I feel a little jealous. It looks like it feels so good! So if I were toddler for a day, I would wake up and run to the tub for a bath to get my back washed. Then I would get so messy at lunch that I needed another bath. & Then at night, I would demand another one. (Because only toddlers are allowed to demand stuff apparently.)
3. Throw a Tantrum!
Maybe this is the most common toddler behavior and Lord how it works my nerves when Little A does it. However, some days I want to break down and just have a fit because nothing is going right. I want to just throw things and cry and scream. That’s it. So if I were a toddler for a day, I would have tantrums. My lunch isn’t what I wanted? Tantrum. My socks don’t match exactly? Tantrum. My socks do match? Tantrum because all of a sudden I want variety. I feel like I could let go of so much build up aggression. 😉
Little A is always interrupting conversations and what can you say? She’s two! Then I go elsewhere and people interrupt me. Even the fiancé interrupts me. I don’t generally do that. Unless I’m mad. So if I were a toddler for a day, I would interrupt everyone!`
5. Go To Time Out
I would spend most of my time in timeout. Little A despises timeouts — in her room — with all her toys… -_- However, if I were toddler for a day, I would throw a fit about something; just anything to get sent to time out. While there I would just color. I love my adult coloring books, however as a mother – I don’t get nearly enough time to color. & By nearly, I mean none. I would also love the silence. Playing by myself letting my imagination run wild. I never got sent to timeout as a kid. Well, I did. Once. & I walked right back out. I should have stayed.
6. Not Have A Single Care In The World.
This isn’t so much a toddler “behavior” per-say, but it’s something I envy. Toddlers and children are so care free. They don’t have to worry about money, they don’t have to worry about work, and they don’t have to worry about bills. I love watching Little A be so carefree. It’s refreshing to know that she is at peace and doesn’t know everything that’s going on. I know all moms feel the pang of hurt thinking about what the future may hold for their kids. I feel the same pang of hurt thinking about Little A having to deal with anything remotely similar to what I have been through.
I love raising a toddler. I really do. I find so much joy in her learning and enjoying each moment of every day. I love her innocence. I don’t look forward to the day I realize she is no longer so innocent. However, somedays I wish that I were the toddler. Getting pampered, given whatever and getting the opportunity for silence!
If you were a toddler for a day, what typical (or not typical) toddler behavior would you take advantage of? How would you act?
