As you may already know, 2017 started off a little rocky when I figured out that I’m not just weird. I have anxiety. My anxiety makes me feel like a rollercoaster sometimes. One minute I’m happy and then a plan change can make me freak out and I need to mentally recuperate for the next week. I knew something had to change. I wanted to be a better mother and a better person to be around. So I looked into essential oils for anxiety and found Plant Therapy!

I reached out to Plant Therapy to see if they would be kind enough to let me sample a few of their essential oils for anxiety and see if it helped for me in return for a review on whether or not it helped. First and foremost, I want to thank them so much for this opportunity.
Next, I want to say how much I love their essential oils. Honestly, I love them.
They sent me the scents; Peppermint, Lavender, and Lemon. When I did my research on essential oils for anxiety, I remembered that the lavender helps with it. I wasn’t sure about the other two so I looked up lemon and peppermint.Peppermint was said to help aid in boosting energy and mental focus. Anyone with anxiety knows that focusing on one thing at a time is a bad experiment. It also always feels like a cloud in your brain trying to drag out the worst fears and make you over think and that’s
Peppermint was said to help aid in boosting energy and mental focus. Anyone with anxiety knows that focusing on one thing at a time is a bad experiment. It also always feels like a cloud in your brain trying to drag out the worst fears and make you over think and that’s horribly distracting as a mother.
Lemon oil was said to help disinfect mainly. However, it’s also said to be a mood booster. It definitely helps boost my mood when I walk into a lemon smelling home because it smells so fresh and clean. So, I think you can guess what I did with the lemon essential oil. I made homemade cleaning supplies with it. I made a DIY carpet freshening powder and I made a DIY lemon spray to spray down the high-traffic area of the carpet, the couch, anything that I think needed to be disinfected or the rooms I am in most to help boost my mood.
Essential Oils for Anxiety Works!
For this I want you to keep in mind that I have had my Fitbit for about a month (Thanks, Fiancé!) and every day, almost, it says my resting heartbeat is between 68 and 74ish. Okay? Okay. let’s get to it.
The lemon essential oil being in the rooms that I’m in the most helped tremendously. In the mornings I would drag so badly because anxiety keeps me up at night. Waking up and smelling the lemon scent helped boost my mood right off and I have done way more cleaning in the past month than I’ve done in a year. (Not really, but probably close.)
Driving & out and about
With my anxiety, I tend to have worse episodes of being bombarded with thoughts when I’m driving or out and about. So I needed to be able to use my essential oils for anxiety when I’m not at home, too. Plant Therapy has a nifty car diffuser that plugs into your lighter outlet and I will be getting one of those soon. However, I wanted a cheaper way for right now. I already had a locket necklace that I wear if I am trying to “dress up” and look normal, you know, not like a mombie, and it’s similar to their aromatherapy diffuser lockets. So I made a DIY necklace to really test their oils.
It has holes in the shape of hearts on the back. I’m not sure where I got it because I’ve had it forever. I just cut a piece of felt to fit and I sprinkle a couple drops of either lavender and peppermint or lavender and lemon.
When I drove around without my necklace and essential oils, I could look at my Fitbit and it would read around 110 for my heart-rate. In my car… while I’m literally just sitting. I knew that was more than likely caused by me overthinking everything while I drive. Driving is my thinking time: A.K.A. my time to think of reasons my fiancé doesn’t like me, I’m a horrible mother, I’m a shitty person… and it escalates from there.
However! With my essential oils around my neck, I would look at my Fitbit and my heart rate would stay in between around 78 and 80. Much better than racing out of my chest at over 100 sitting down doing nothing but driving.
It also helps when I walk inside, I can take it off and still be in a good mood with the lemon smell around my living room and bedroom.
What I Like About Plant Therapy
Everything! They have free shipping! Isn’t that enough? No? Okay, then let’s continue.
They have their own Worry Free Blend! I am definitely getting this! This seems like it is the ultimate essential oils for anxiety all in one! Totally awesome.
They have their own gorgeous diffuser necklaces.
Plant Therapy is affordable! When I looked at their site, I was waiting for the $30 price tag on a tiny bottle of essential oils. That’s not the case here. They are so “price-friendly“!
They have KID FRIENDLY oils! The mom in me wants to do high-pitched squeals like when I was a kid, but it would probably hurt my throat.. sooo.. I’ll just type a small “eeeekkk!!!”. I will most definitely be getting Alexis the nighty night to diffuse in her room at nights (she’s a terrible sleeper! Always has been) and possible the No More Warts because she keeps having a small wart pop up on one of her index fingers and I just can’t muster up taking her to the doctor because I don’t want them to hurt her. ):
Anyways! Obviously, I love Plant Therapy. I think they are heaven sent because they have helped me find a way to manage my anxiety and bring it down a notch. In the past few weeks, my fiancé and I have been doing better and I have been feeling better. So new to me to feel like this. But I am assuming this is what “normal” feels like. I didn’t have to go to a doctor, potentially get called crazy and get put on meds that make me feel non-human.
Praise Plant Therapy! Thank you again, so much for this opportunity to see if essentials for anxiety really work.
For sure, the essential oils from Plant Therapy did work and I will be running off coffee and essential oils for probably, the rest of my life. Plus side? People say you smell good and you can forget your deodorant! 😉 Pahaha.
