Hello & welcome back! Today I have a fun little review for you guys! It was going to be in the form of a video (I even had most of it filmed, just needed to edit..) however, if you have seen YIKES! Then you know that I am basically computer-less until I figure out how to get a new laptop/desktop. Sooooo, this post was written on my dinosaur computer, you know, before they even had wireless internet build into the computer tower (Yeah, that old! It has to have a USB stick to connect!) Then I had to jump through hoops to get it on my phone because let’s face it, just because it can connect to the internet does not mean I want to spend a week to get the browser up… 😂 So, I hope you guys love this review!!
& Now that I have complained extensively about my #firstworldproblems, let’s talk about the Wikki Stix Alphabet! I was sent the Wikki Stix Alphabet from Timberdoodle for review purposes, by all thoughts are 100% my own. I have just recently learned about Timberdoodle, but I have to say, they have a lot of cool stuff! I was telling Jacob how much of their stuff I would want to get when I homeschool Alexis. Yes, they have it all! Like the Wikki Stix Alphabet is part of their much larger Pre-K Curriculum Kit! (Which I honestly believes has pretty much EVERYTHING to teach your preschooler everything they need to know!)
What do I love about the Wikki Stix Alphabet?
The cards & stix are so colorful!
Kids are just drawn to colorful things. Alexis’ 4-year-old half-sister, Haleigh, loves colorful stuff so much that she told me she wants rainbow hair this past weekend, then said she wants “light purple” hair. Kids love bright things & that’s what I love about the vibrant colors of the Wikki Stix Alphabet. It makes it so much more fun & your kids are more likely to not just play with it, but to love learning through playing. Alexis loves to say what colors she is going to mix & match to make the letters, which also helps with color recognition if your littles don’t already know their colors.
The cards are clean!
I’ve seen some learning games and activities for kids where the page is so cluttered. In this day & age, minimalism is catching on quickly with adults. However it’s not just good for adults, it’s good for kids too. If I hand Alexis something with a bunch of clutter, she will scribble & be done. The Wikki Stix Alphabet cards are clutter free. They have the letters with one word and one cute illustration. That’s it! So it doesn’t overwhelm your kids and make them lose interest. Alexis can play with her Wikki Stix Alphabet for hours!
Alexis is a hands-on learner. However she doesn’t necessarily like when I try to teach her how to write her letters. With Wikki Stix, she looks at it as something she cam do independently. As she uses her fine motor skills to bend the slightly tacky stix, she is learning how to shape letters without the frustration of having to have mommy help her with a pen/pencil. I was a little concerned at first because I thought it was going to be something that is so sticky she can’t pull it up on her own or something that wasn’t sticky enough to stay put on the paper. However, it has the perfect amount of stick for little hands! She can pick it up, resition it and stick it back down & it holds.
The cards aren’t the only durable thing. Alexis has played with her Wikki Stix many times since we got them (without my permission, a few stix even turned into a necklace for her Snow White figurine) & the tacky stix are still perfect! I was a little shocked. I assumed they would be something that lost their stickiness after a few times of play.
All in all, I love our Wikki Stix Alphabet!! Timberdoodle really outdid themselves on this product. It is definitely something that I would recommend to anyone wanting to help their littles master the basics of forming their letters!
